Texas Is a Great Destination For Those Going South For The Winter

Going South To TexaaFollowing the sun is becoming a way of life for many retirees finding no real reason to spend their golden years huddled indoors during cold northern winters. Not only can the weather be brutal, but spending around six months every year trying to keep warm instead of enjoying their outdoor hobbies, is not a good way to spend these golden years. For many considering going south for the winter, Texas has much to enjoy.

no one deals like we do!

Some of the advantages of going south for the winter that Texas offers include a host of activities to accommodate the interests of nearly everyone throughout the year. Superb golf courses, nature trails, and a host of other outdoor activities not available in the winter in the northern climates. These so-called 'snowbirds', who migrate to warmer climates in the winter, find the heat and calmer weather in most Texas towns more enticing than shoveling snow, though the excessive heat that comes to the areas near the Gulf may make most want to head back north during the summer months.

The flock can find many winter rental units available at steep discounts, as well as many senior travel choices also discounted during the quiet months of the year. For these snowbirds, their winter rental times begin in October and extend through April, which is not a high travel time for vacationers who typically hit these hot spots during the summer months when children are out of school. This brings the price of winter rental units down considerably, inviting for those who do not own their own vacation home.

Although many snowbirds may own their own recreational vehicle and place it in an attended park, others eschew the senior travel circuit and prefer to stay in a winter rental condo. Whether they are looking for condo rentals or a place to plant their winter roots in one of many RV park rentals, they have no reason to remain in an unbearable climate all year.

In addition to keeping warm in the winter and enjoying activities they would usually miss, when going south for the winter, Texas winter rental communities often companionships and the means of getting together with new friends they may only see six months out of the year. State and city Chambers of Commerce also offer information on condo rental availability and can supply contacts for rentals available from private owners. There are numerous housing options available for snowbirds as owners of vacation homes may not use them throughout the winter and offer them as winter rentals to reliable snowbirds to not only help pay the annual cost, but also to prevent them from sitting empty and unprotected.

With discounts also available on senior travel during the traditional off-season, spending six months going south for the winter and the other six months in their northern home can provide an entire year of living in an accommodating climate. While staying close to family and friends in the north, they can also stay in touch with their new flock of friends in the south.
