A great way to save on your flight is through travel package deals. These package deals usually include the flight and the hotel accommodations. There are some packages that also include tickets, such as Disney World packages, car rental, or other amenities that you will probably use on your trip. Although many people are aware of travel package deals and the money you can save on your flights with those deals, they are usually unaware of where to find these deals, or what to look for.

The best advice about finding travel package deals is to shop around. First you need to find out what the lowest air fare, hotel cost, and car rental will be for your trip if you were to book them individually. You will find that not all travel package deals will save you money in the long run. They might look attractive at first, but upon shopping around you might find a better deal.

Also be sure to read the fine print that is detailed in your prospective travel package. Some travel package deals are offered as incentive to buy other products and some of packages often require that you purchase a high priced hotel room in order to get the discounted airfare and free entertainment tickets.

Other packages will require that you use the package within a short period of time, which can be difficult if you find it hard to get time off of work or school.

You can also find travel discount packages through the destination you are traveling to. Most states and tourist areas have websites that you can visit to get information for that area or state. If the tourist area or state is trying to promote tourism to their area, they may offer discounted travel packages to entice you to visit their state or amusement park. Such travel discounts packages are most often found for destinations such as Colorado, North Dakota, and Texas. Branson, Missouri also offer travel discount packages, as does Orlando, Florida and Disney World.

Sometimes you can find discount travel packages simply by calling the airlines, although these packages probably won't save you as much money as the other types of packages listed above. Again, watch the promotions as you might save a great deal of money on your flight, just to find that you've agreed to book a hotel for $200 per night. Watch the fine print, and ask as many questions as you can when dealing with booking agents.

You might also find travel deals with the discount car rental companies. Some car rental companies will offer you discounted air travel in exchange for renting your car through their company. However, watch the deal that you are getting. If you save $50 on your airfare, but have to spend $100 a day to rent the car, you aren't saving anything.
